Our newly-formed Bearbrass Writers Group is a hive of activity with the half-dozen members hard at work on weekly exercises like recognising and avoiding passive sentences and creating lively characters for fiction pieces. We've had two guest speakers - Ros Thomas on publication of her first novel next month, and veteran English teacher Phil Allen (40 years experience) on his gifted students. A published novelist is expected to brief us shortly. Our Bearbrass club though small, has two impending novelists Robyn B and Glenys Y and three keen learners, as well as a veteran writer of non-fiction. We organised Kerrie Matthee to do a photo shoot of Robyn and Glenys, no easy matter in lockdown conditions, but she's come up with some beaut shots that we'll try to use for articles in the Probus and general press.
