In August each year, in order to alleviate the doldrums of cold weather and rain, we turn the usual running order for the General Meeting into additional fun, friendship, laughter and frivolity!
This month saw us all joining together in the spirit of good-natured competition, as we were pitted table against table or as individuals. Of course, all the effort, intellect and wit had to be fueled by sweet treats and a tempting array of sugary sustenance was on hand to keep energy levels high.
An Olympic-style opening set the tone for the afternoon, and soon a variety of talents, skills, and quick thinking were on display as the will to win kicked in. Who knew we were all so competitive?
Some games called for fresh skills and lateral thinking, while familiar favourites like Celebrity Heads sparked bursts of laughter with their outrageous guesses. Knowledge of our city proved handy in certain challenges, and building numerical sequences gave a few players pause — at least at first.
Through it all, good humour reigned supreme! After a couple of false starts, Table 1 surged ahead, clinching victory amid raucous cheers and friendly banter.
