This month’s walk was organised by Richard B and took us across the Yarra for a very enjoyable journey along the Williamstown foreshore.
We caught the train to Williamstown Beach Station and then walked through the beautiful Botanic Gardens to the foreshore, then along to Point Gellibrand, along Nelson Place to a coffee shop in Ferguson St, then onto North Williamstown Station, which was a distance of about 5 km.
The scenery was remarkable and displayed at its best on a balmy, bright summer’s day. We saw groups of school children learning about all the creatures living in the many rock pools, passing boats, buildings from the convict beginnings of Melbourne and the Time Ball Tower, which ships visiting Melbourne used to set their chronometers accurately.
Coffee and a light lunch for some, concluded proceedings.
