This month our hike of 14 kilometres, was from the East Malvern railway station back into the city along the Gardiners Creek trail and the Yarra River trail.
We managed to coordinate arriving at East Malvern station at the same time, and then hopped straight onto the Gardiners Creek Trail, which provided an easy, paved path to follow alongside the creek amongst the lush and green playing fields.
After walking the first section, we took a short detour over to Glenferrie Road for a coffee break. We stopped at Brothers Keeper, where everyone grabbed a quick caffeine fix to fuel the rest of the trip.
From there, we got back on track and kept moving until the path joined up with the Yarra Trail. The trail followed the river all the way into the CBD, with the city buildings getting closer the further we walked.
We finished the full 14 kilometres right at Federation Square and headed down to the Riverland Bar for lunch. We grabbed an outdoor table by the water, ordered some food and drinks, and wrapped up a great day out together.
