We are privileged to obtain two key speakers on Melbourne’s airport development for our next club meeting on Tuesday October 13. They are Shantelle O’Riordan, the airport’s Community Engagement Advisor, and Emily Box, Executive Advisor at airport consultants GHD.
They will jointly describe to us the third runway project that will boost capacity, cut delays, boost Victoria’s economy, improve competition between airlines and support thousands of jobs. Running parallel to the main runway, the third runway will allow two planes to take off and land simultaneously. We’ve all fretted at hanging around idling on the tarmac or circling waiting for a landing slot, costing time and money. And the parallel runways are desperately needed, with more than 76m travellers projected to use the airport in 2042.
Emily will describe how engineering company GHD is working independently with flight path experts Trax to develop the Noise Sharing Plan. It will reduce the impact upon homes of so many more flights. For this community feedback is essential.
Don’t miss this special event about a momentous change coming to air travel in and out of our great city.
