The crisp August air did nothing to dampen the high spirits of our members as we gathered at the historic Montague Hotel in South Melbourne for our monthly Sunday lunch. Known for its warm hospitality, the cozy venue provided the perfect refuge for our group of retirees to catch up and enjoy a magnificent Sunday roast. The kitchen truly outdid itself, serving generous sharing platters of tender, slow-roasted Wagyu beef and succulent pork belly with flawless crackling. Accompanying the meats were crispy roast potatoes, honey-glazed carrots, fluffy Yorkshire puddings, and a rich house jus that left everyone thoroughly satisfied.
Plenty of meaningful conversation and banter was had. Later, a few hardy souls sought refuge in a local wine bar, making a halfway stop on the journey home.
The owner is a staunch Carlton supporter, so we asked AI to put us all in Collingwood jumpers, just in case he is looking for a Probus club to join!
